Terrestrial ecotoxicology
Biochar technology
Microplastic research
Environmental risk assessment of plant protection products and other contaminants through toxicity tests, biomarkers and field monitoring
Investigation of materials susceptible to transformation to biochar as a waste recovery strategy framed in the circular economy
Vermiremediation (use of earthworms to degrade soil contaminants), as a biotechnological methodology for in situ remediation of contaminated soils
Use of insect larvae as models to explore microplastic toxicology, and production of biochar from plastic-containing insect frass.
Associate Professor of Environmental Toxicology and Animal Physiology at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and Biochemistry of the Castilla-La Mancha University, Toledo. Current research activity in Ecotoxicology of agrochemicals, particularly environmental evaluation of the impact of pesticides on non-target terrestrial organisms through the use of multiple experimental approaches. Recently, my interest is also vermiremediation (use of earthworms to degrade soil contaminants), as a biotechnological methodology for in situ remediation of contaminated soils.
